Make Labeling Fast and Easy with Cam-Tape

Cam-Tape revolutionizes shot media card management and tracking for TV and film production sets, replacing the error-prone "Blank Roll and Sharpie" method with a faster, simpler, and more streamlined labeling process.

Cam-Tape How To

01. Fill It In!
IMG_2773.JPG

Fill in your desired tag info before or after you remove a Cam-tape tag from the roll. Each tag has text fields for:

  • “SHOW”

  • “SCENE”

  • “CAM” (Camera Letter A, B, C, etc.)

  • “LOAD” (Roll or Load numbers 01, 02, 03, etc.)

  • “DATE” (The date of the shoot)

02. Pull It!

Locate the black triangle tab on the top of the next tag. Gently pull the tape away from the roll about 3 inches, extending just past the base of the next triangle.

03. Fold It!
IMG_2771.JPG

Grasp the tab on the top of the tag. Pull down and to the right, using the black triangle as a guide to create a perfect fold for your triangle tab.

04. Detach It!

Press down and hold your thumb holding the roll on the black triangle, then use your other hand to tear the tag away from the roll along the perforated line. This not only creates tags of identical lengths but also creates a triangle-shaped tab at the top of the next tag on the roll, which serves two purposes:

  1. It keeps the end of the tape from sticking to the roll.

  2. It creates a grab tab with which to lift, fold, and tear the next tag from the roll, as well as to stick and re-stick the tag from camera to shot card to card reader.

05. Post It!

Post the tag on the side of the camera, usually on top of the closed media card port door.

Pro Tip!

For efficient labeling during fast-paced shoots, consider

  • Pre-writing a stack of 3-5 tags (A01, A02, etc.).

  • Stack them in descending order (highest number on the bottom) and apply the top tag to the camera next to the media card slot.

  • This allows quick replacement – as you eject a full card, remove the top tag and replace it with a fresh one from the stack.

06. Tag It!

When the camera's media card is full, mark the "Shot Card" box on the tag with a Sharpie (either an X or your initials). Remove the tag and attach it securely to the ejected card. Place the card in the designated "Shot Media" container. DITs (Digital Imaging Technicians) will regularly collect these cards for duplication and transfer them to external drives for delivery to Post Production.
